EMERGENCY PROCEDURES POLICY:

At ALIF Canada, the safety and well-being of our students and staff are paramount. We rigorously train and prepare for various emergencies, ensuring that everyone is equipped to respond effectively when needed.

FIRE OR FIRE DRILL PROCEDURES

We adhere strictly to provincial and local fire safety regulations, conducting regular drills during school hours to ensure preparedness. When the fire alarm sounds, it's a signal for immediate evacuation. All individuals on-site, including students, teachers, staff, volunteers, and visitors, must exit the building swiftly and calmly. Our drills encompass various scenarios, including other emergencies like chemical spills or electrical issues, ensuring that everyone is well-prepared.

WHEN THE ALARM BELL RINGS

  • STOP: Cease all activities and proceed quietly to designated classroom exits. Maintain calmness and avoid panic.

  • LOOK: Follow the direction of your teacher.

  • LISTEN: Pay attention to instructions from teachers, office staff, or fire personnel.

  • Students should leave belongings behind and proceed quickly to the exit.

  • Teachers will turn off lights and close doors but not lock them. Windows need not be closed.

  • Assist disabled individuals if necessary.

  • Teachers will bring attendance materials and radios.

  • Students outside designated classrooms will exit the school and assemble with their class outside.

OUTSIDE THE BUILDING

  • Assemble in the designated area, typically the parking lot, away from buildings.

  • Teachers will take attendance and report to the Principal.

  • Remain with your class and await further instructions.

  • Once everyone is accounted for and the all-clear is given, teachers will be notified.

WHEN THE ALL-CLEAR BELL RINGS

Teachers lead their classes back to the classrooms, take attendance, and inform the office.

LOCKDOWN

Implemented in immediate safety threats, such as an active attacker or weapon presence.

COMMUNICATION DURING LOCKDOWN

The bell rings in sets of three.

A P.A. announcement provides clear instructions, with the school under the authority of the Toronto Police Service.
